surrounding facebook's big announcement today. plus -- surprising news for air travelers why sfo could soon have a new name. "mornings on 2" begins right now. well, good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> good morning. i'm tori campbell. it's tuesday, january 15th. we begin with developing news. right now, firefighters are still putting out hot spots from a big fire near the carquinez bridge. it started shortly before 4:00 this morning in a vacant building along the waterfront in the city of crockett. ktvu's alex savidge was the first reporter on the scene and tells us why investigators are calling this fire suspicious. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning, tori. it appears suspicious because this is an abandoned building on the pier and it caught fire in the middle of the night. this whats a challenging battle

for the firefighters. i want to -- this was a challenging battle for firefighters. here's why -- they had access issues all morning long. they couldn't go out on the pier because of the danger of it collapsing. they had to spray water from the shoreline. but they cannot access a lot of hot spots. that's the reason that a fire boat had to be called in a short time ago from pittsburg to help out. we watch as that boat sprayed water on the underside of the pier where a lot of the wood was continuing to burn. now, the fire broke out just about 3:00 this morning. this is here lowering and jackson in crockett, right on the waterfront and next to the sugar factory. crews caught this fire defensively from the shoreline spraying water on it from the shore and eventually got the boat in there to find out. a battalion chief i talked to said the fire appears suspicious for a number of reasons. >> there's nobody living on the

pier. there are no sources of electricity or other obvious sources of ignition. >> reporter: on top of that, there was also another fire at this same pier two years ago, according to firefighters. i asked the battalion chief this morning if transients may have been camping out inside this structure on the pier this morning. he said that's certainly a possibility that will be looked into it as arson investigators move in and try to figure out exactly what sparked this fire this morning. we bring you out here live. fire are yous -- crews are still putting water on some of the hot spots on the pier that caught fire. i also want to mention this did have an impact on the amtrak and southern train line. trains were stopped but they are now moving again. alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:03. boats in redwood city are no longer allowed to stay at pete's harbor. but some of the tentants say they are not going anywhere.

today is the eviction day for the receipt maining boats after several tenants left yesterday. some say they need more time since their boat engines are not working. the harbor has been sold to an developer. the california land's commission is debating if part of that harbor should remain open to the public. well, a man who was looking into buying an iphone off craigslist was robbed at gunpoint in concord. it happened at 7:00 in the lucky parking lot on clay road. an iphone 5 was for sale. the suspect has been arrested. he's christopher ebert stallworth of oakland. 7:04. in a few hours, you can trade guns for cash. in marin county, it's part of the area's first-ever gun

buyback event. organizers will take $200 for semi-automatic guns and $100 for other guns. you must bring proof of residency in order to take part. the five dropoff locations are open from 11:00 this morning until 8:00 tonight. they include novato, the larkspur, st. andrew's church in marin city and the it point reyes sub-- and the point reyes substation. president obama is reviewing a series of proposals from the vice president about curbing gun violence. coming up at 7:15, a new poll checks public support for gun control. after prompting some furious reaction, today, the house will finally vote on giving an extra $51 billion to help the victims of superstorm sandy. the legislation includes two bills, one gives $17 billion in

emergency funding. the other would include money for fema's disaster relief fund. but financial conservatives still oppose the bill. they feel some of that money would be used for things that have nothing to do with the storm or its victims. the social media world is buzzing this morning about rumors of a possible announcement this morning by facebook. ktvu tea janine de la vega live in menlo park with more about a mystery event that happens in just a couple of hours. janine? >> reporter: dave, we're here in facebook's parking lot, where we're told by security they've reserved 100 parking spots for the media. you can see some of the national media covering this at -- covering this. at 10:00, they will be announcing this event. there are rumors that it may be

a smartphone but some analysts are shooting down that idea because in the past, the ceo has publicly said that a facebook smartphone does not make sense. he has said that the facebook's mobile platform is his top priority. there's speculation he may unveil a search engine that would combine friends' suggestions and user suggestions. >> for all of the fantastic group, facebook has seen a slowdown, user group has slowed down. they have to change that if they want to have a company that will last. >> reporter: all of the hype has caused facebook to end on a six-month high on friday -- hype on friday. it seems facebook has taken a page from apple as far -- their sort of cryptic invitation for

today's event. something we do know is no broadcast video cameras are being allowed into the press conference that starts at 10:00 a.m. only still photographer and journalists are allowed in. reporting live from menlo park, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:07. one san francisco supervisor wants to crack down on muni and its service problems. the san francisco chronicle says scott wiener will ask the board for a hearing where muni would report on all of the recent service problems and the city controller would say how much money that cost in lost productivity. muni's board of directors will vote on whether to approve a $24.1 million contract to overhaul are the aging train management system. now, a new network would feature an integrated series of fiberoptic cables, an

uninterruptible power systems. that system would be managed at one central location which muni says will help them quickly out problems and make adjustments. if approved, the project would be finished in 1.5 years. the cold weather is bringing dangerous conditions for bay area drivers. this is what it looked like yesterday when six vehicles were involved in a collision near fish ranch road and claremont avenue. this is in the oakland hills. luckily, no one was seriously hurt. drivers are being warned to watch out for black ice and lower their speed this morning. so far, no ice-related accidents have been reported. it's very drugs -- dangerous if you are going over a bridge. >> yeah. and you can't see until you get there. sal's here. we're at the peak of the commute. >> we are. let's go right to the toll plaza where you can see traffic is backed up to beyond the 880

>> well, i -- i think that we need to as a society look at things more carefully. perhaps we as a society have been conditioned to be duped. >> tracy also suggested actors were used to shape debate about gun control. the president of the university says she's upset the comments caused more pain in newtown and that the professor spoke as a private citizen, not as a representative of the school. we have new information on last week's school shooting near bakersfield. prosecutors in kern county say they will try the 16-year-old suspect as an adult. witnesses say the teenager walked into a science classroom at taft high school and shot another 16-year-old in the chest. the victim is current lit in a medically-induced coma but doctors expect him to -- currently in a medically- induced coma but doctors expect him to recover fully.

president obama is going over the vice president's proposals about tougher gun laws. we could possibly see an executive order by the president by the end of the week. as kyla campbell reports from our washington, d.c. newsroom, there is a new poll out showing most americans would support tougher laws. kyla? >> reporter: the pew research center poll shows more people want more restrictions on gunn buyers. of those polled, 85% won background checks for private fun sales and those who buy weapons at shows. 80% say the mentally ill should not be allowed to buy guns and over half say there should not be an -- be a ban on the assault weapons. president obama says he could use his power to create stricter gun laws in the next few days. he's reviewing the proposals from the vice president's task force on stemming the gun

violence. there's talk of abandoniand lim high-capacity magazine clips. >> if there is a step we can take that will save even one child from what happened in newtown, we should take that step. >> reporter: and we expect to learn more about the president's plans during the white house daily news conference in just over two hours, what the nra and other gun rights groups are saying about all of this, that's when i see you next. live in washington, kyla campbell, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:17. now we're hearing secretary of state hillary clinton will testify next week at a congressional hearing about the deadly attack on the u.s. consulate in libya. that's according to the head of the house foreign affairs committee. he said on january 23rd. secretary clinton will answer questions about the raid that killed u.s. ambassador chris stevens and three other americans. she was scheduled to testify last month but could not because of an illness. former senator hagel will have the to meet with the

senators who will have to -- will start to meet with the senators who will have to confirm his nominations. some republicans are opposed to his nomination even though hagel is a republican. his critics accuse him of being soft on iran and weak in support for israel. his confirmation hearing before the armed services committee will take place within a few weeks. 7:18. an alarming new report could raise quake concerns in san francisco. a previously private report found there are nearly 3,000 potentially unsafe buildings in the city, housing about 58,000 people. and the search says those buildings would likely crumble in a major -- major quake. however, some of those on the list have not been verified by building inspectors. it looks like any survivors

of the san bruno blast will go to trial. about 120 have agreed to settlements. an attorney said yesterday in court they will come up with a process that could take about 90 days to settle the remaining legal claims. 7:19. new this morning, france says it will eventually have 2500 troops in mali. they already sent about 500 troops to mali and have constructed air strikes against al qaeda. the united states is helping them with intelligence information and may send in air support. afghanistan's defense minister said today he's confident the u.s. will not abandon his country after foreign combat troops leave at the end of next year. the defense minister says he doesn't believe the u.s. will repeat the mistake it made after the 1989 soviet pullout of afghanistan. the u.s. supported fighters who drove soviet troops out of the

country but want -- but once the troops are gone, the u.s. support would dry up. that was followed by the rise of the taliban and the september 11th attacks by al qaeda which was using afghanistan as a sanctuary. walmart is planning to hire 100,000 military veterans over the next five years. it says most of the veterans will work in a variety of jobs at company stores and clubs. others will work in direction centers. in distribution centers. if you were tossing and turning all night to find the perfect sleeping position, experts say there's really no right way to sleep but there are things you can do to avoid pain. according to a new survey, 60% of americans say the most common sleeping position is on their side. after that, the most popular positions, on the back or on the stomach. new research shows the average

in china, one of the worst rounds of air pollution is keeping people indoors and

before running into the bay bridge. >> reporter: we're live in rohnert park where a sheriff's deputy makes an alarming discovery in a car. we'll tell you what he found. >> reporter: and it could be sfo no longer. the city supervisor wants to make a name change. we'll tell you what he wants to change it to -- coming up next on "mornings on 2."

a body was found in the trunk of a car in rohnert park. tara moriarty is live with more. >> reporter: good morning. a sheriff's deputy made the gruesome discovery inside the trunk of that car parked not too far from where we are near the sonoma state university campus. it was a gold-colored older model sedan parked on petaluma road near east tecate avenue. the deputy spotted it and then saw what was possible evidence inside the car. he ran the license plates and discovered that the car was linked to a crime that happened in santa rosa friday. then when he popped open the trunk, he found a body wrapped inside of a blanket. investigator have not released the victim's identify and they are not saying how that individual died and they are not commenting on the evidence.

they are looking for a person wanted for questioning in connection with that crime. we've been in touch with the sonoma county sheriff's office and the police. we're hoping to learn more information later this morning. 23-year-old anthony donaldson has been missing since december 24th when police stopped him for suspected drunk driving. they say he jumped into a creek and the coroner will identify a body found there and perform an autopsy. a man accused of killing five people at a san francisco home last march is due in

court. a preliminary hearing is scheduled for today. he's charged with five counts of murder stemming from the killings of three women and two men at a home on ingleside on march 23th. he's entered a not guilty plea. investigators now say the bar pilot made a last-minute turn just before the tank sideswiped on the bay bridge last week. it happened in fog. now, it's still not clear why there was a sudden change in course. that crash caused several million dollars' damage to both the -- to both the bridge and the oil tanker. geithner says the u.s. government will run out of money to pay its bills as soon as the middle of february if congress doesn't raise the debt ceiling. president obama says he will not negotiate this issue with congress but republicans want any increase in the debt ceiling to be tied to spending cuts. the issue here is whether

or not america pays its bills. we are not a deadbeat nation. and so -- there is a very simple solution to this. >> now, in a statement, john boehner indicated the republican party is prepared for a fight. he said "the consequences of failing to increase the debt ceiling are rule but so are the consequences of allowing our spending problem to go unresolved." state lawmakers in sacramento are closely watching this debate in washington. the concern is that if congress doesn't act on the debt ceiling, the national economy could dip and that would likely have a negative effect on california's budget numbers. push >> the biggest risk to our forecast or the analysts' forecasts could come next month and that's from washington,

d.c. >> the 2013 budget release by governor brown showed a surplus for the first time in many years and that was thanks to new tax revenue from proposition 30 as well as spending cuts. oakland police investigating a shooting that seriously injured one man. it happened about 8:00 last night on crest avenue. neighbors say they heard about 30 rounds from what sounded likes an automatic assault rifle. the victim ran. he was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition. so far no arrests have been made. well, oakland's police chief and the mayor, they are working now to stop the surge in violence. 11 people were wounded in shootings over the weekend, six people have been killed so far this year. the police are blaming a lot of the violence on a feud between rival gangs. it started when a young woman was killed last summer. since then, howard jordan says

gangs have been responsible for about 90% of the violent crime. >> we know that's probably 1%, 2% of the population causing this violence. we're focused on them. chief jordan says the police department is already getting help from the chp. he plans to have more police academies and also add 70 officers. well, soon oakland police will be getting help from a former los angeles police chief. coming up for you at 7:47, why some community groups are protesting the hiring of william bratton. it is 7:36. san francisco international airport could be getting a new name. brian flores is live in san francisco with the possible change and why it would be a first. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning. 41million passengers pass through sfo every single year but by the end of the year, they could actually be passing

through the harvey milk san francisco international airport if legislation goes through. now, city supervisor david campos today will introduce a charter amendment to propose to remain sfo. according to the chronicle, he's gotten support of four other supervisors. now, milk, a former supervisor, became one of the first openly gay men elected to public office in the u.s. when he won a seat on the board of supervisors back in 1977. he was assassinated at city hall more than a year later. now, there were a few people we spoke with this morning when just want this to remain sfo. quite a few people are voicing opinions on our facebook page. some say the name is appropriate. >> hopefully, residents of san francisco -- they've always known this city will take a leadership role and if san francisco won't do it, who will?

police consultant. the city would pay bratton $250,000 a year. some community groups are protesting the higher -- the hiring of bratton. they say he was responsible for harsh police pollties in los angeles and new york. a protest rally is planned at frank ogawa plaza at 5:00 p.m. before the protesters go into the meeting. san jose will have an interim police chief when the current chief retires this week. the city manager appointed larry esquivel has interim chief. he's been in charge of san jose's bureau of field operations. chief chris moore is set to step down at the end of the week. the city manager says she needs more time to search for his successor. the nra has set up a controversy with its new app. it's called nra practice range. it provides players with a virtual shooting gallery where

welcome back. i'm tori campbell. >> i'm dave clark. developing news now from crockett. firefighters still putting out hot spots from a big early- morning fire near the carquinez bridge. it started about 4:00 this morning in a vacant building right along the waterfront in

crockett. ktvu's alex savidge was the first reporter there and alex, you have new information on how this started. >> reporter: good morning. i did get an update from the assistant fire chief. he told meal there were witnesses -- he told me there were witnesses who reported seeing a small warming fire set on this pier that caught fire around 3:00 this morning. apparently, that warming fire may have been set. they are looking at the possibility that fishermen were using that fire. meantime, this morning, you can see that fire crews are continuing to spray water onto hot spots at this pier as it continues to smolder. this fire broke out just about:00 this morning along the waterfront near lowering and jackson streets in crockett. there was a real access problem for firefighters because they couldn't go out onto the pier because of the danger of it collapsing. crews fought this fire defensively spraying water from the shoreline. the building that was burning was unoccupied.

a fire boat was eventually called in from the pittsburg fire department to help out. that boat sprayed water on the underside of the pier. some of those really hard-to- reach hot spots. >> the pier wood is treated -- [inaudible] it's 80 to 100 years old. it's problematic and it's real heavy timber. so it will burn for a while. >> reporter: crews out here say the fire does appear to be suspicious this morning -- the main reason, being there's no electricity that runs out to this pier. so really no way it could have started accidentally. on top of that, one of the firefighters out here tells me there was another fire at this same pier that broke out two years ago. i also want to tell you as well that this pier fire this morning did have an impact on some of the train lines here, the southern pacific and the amtrak train lines because they were running their hose line

across the train tracks. at this point, the train lines are no longer impacted although we do understand there are some residual delays on the capital corridor train. crews will remain an keep an eye on this smoldering fire. alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news an escaped inmate, 22-year- old, david ail enbrown, climbed over a fence at the minimum facility near lakeport. he has tattoos all over his neck. he is a parole violenter. he was convicted of car theft, resisting arrest and other crimes. he was supposed to serve time in state prison. east palo alto police investigating that city's homicide of 2013.

the police rushed near illinois street and perdue avenue about 1:45 yesterday afternoon after the shot spotter system spotted gunfire. they found jonathan alkazar. he had been shot several times. he died at the scene. police say a second gunshot victim layer showed up at a hospital. he's in critical condition. no word on suspects or a motive. san francisco police are continue to look for a man suspected in a violent attack in the mission district. it's a story we told you about last week. the man grabbed a 35-year-old woman and slammed her head to the ground. this happened january 6th on 23rd near you go remember row. the -- guerrero. the man is described as asian or latino, about 25 years old, 5'10", 160 pounds with a buzz

two other students had to go to the hospital after eating the pot-laced snacks. this happened yesterday in neuman. police arrested a 14-year-old boy who they say brought the pot brownies to school. two 15-year-old boys accused of buying the snacks and handing them out were also arrested. possible changes could be coming to smoking restrictions in the city of san francisco. today, the board of supervisors will be considering two pieces of legislation. the first would require property owners in the city to tell potential tenants whether smoking it is allowed a multi- unit residential building. other would ban smoking at certain street fairs and festivals. it's the first meeting for supervisors since two new members were born into office. 8:19. the power's back on in larkspur for dozens of pg&e customers. a big redwood tree suddenly fell over yesterday, knocked out power, also hit that house. it was a 150-foot tall tree, it

there is a reported fatal crash in cupertino on foothill near stevens creek. it's actually near silver oak, a small street near there. but north hill boulevard. a very popular, busy area in coupe tino -- cupertino. some of the street is closed for an investigation. newschopper2 is on the way. time now, 8:30. investigators in sonoma county looking for clues after a body was found inside of the trunk of a parked car. ktvu's tara moriarty is in

santa rosa now with the latest information on that investigation. tara? >> reporter: we dropped by the sonoma county sheriff's office to get an update. a lot of these investigators were up all night trying to put together the many pieces of this puzzle. we also spoke to santa rosa police and a lead investigator is in a meeting about this case as we -- we speak. very gruesome discovery made by a sheriff's deputy in rohnert park. here's what happened -- along a country road that borders sonoma state university, the deputy spotted a gold-colored sedan in a no-darking zone on petaluma road last night at about 6:30. he noticed what was possible evidence inside the car. he ran the license plates and discovered that the car was linked to a crime that happened in santa rosa on friday. then when he popped open the trunk, he found a body wrapped independent side a blanket -- inside a blanket.

investigators are not saying how that individual died and are not commenting on the evidence what the deputy saw. sal castanedo will have much more on this story coming up on our news at noon. live from santa rosa, tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> 8:31. in marin county, a body found last night in corte madera creek, authorities want to know if it's the man who ran away to try to get from the police. anthony donaldson has been missing since december 24th in ross. that's when police stopped imhim for suspicion of drunk driving. he jumped out of the car and ran away. that's when police got word of a body near that creek. the coroner will identify the body and conduct an autopsy. a man looking to buy and iphone off craigslist was robbed at gunpoint in concord.

it happened around 7:00 last night in the lucky parking lot on clayton road. it's reported the suspect listed an iphone 5 for sale online. but when he met the victim, police say he pulled out a gun and stole the victim's cash. the suspect was later arrested. ese hides as christopher ebert stallworth of -- he's identified as christopher ebert stallworth of oakland. one san francisco supervisor wants to crack down on muni. scott wiener would ask the board for a hearing where muni would support on all service problems and would report how much money that cost in lost productivity. and today, muni's board of directors will vote on whether to approve a $24.1 million contract to overhaul its aging

training management system. the system would be managed at one central location which muni says will help them quickly diagnose problems and make adjustments. if approved, the project would be finished in about a year half. today a plan to rename san francisco international airport will be debated. ktvu eight brian flores live at sfo right now to tell us what this new nim could be and how people say they feel about it. >> reporter: good morning, dave. 41million passengers pass through sfo on a given year but by the end of the year, they could actually be passing through the harvey milk san francisco international airport. now, david compose will introduce a charter amendment that would propose to rename sfo today. he would need the support of five other supervisors and according to the supervisor, he's gotten the support of four

cosponsors. he said the amendment would then go on the ballot. now, harvey milk became one of the first reflect -- elected official to be gay and was assassinated a year later at city hall. there are people saying they want this to remain at sfo. some saying there should be a statue of milk. others say it's a waste of taxpayer money. others think the name is appropriate. >> i love harvey milk's work. >> i think it's important. >> i like it. >> i think it's a good idea. he fought the good fight.

victims of supersandy. legislation includes two bills. one would give $17 billion in emergency funding. if. -- funding. some don't like this. they say this would be used for things that have nothing to do with the storms or the victims. some want a florida professor to be fired for what he said about the connecticut school shooting rampage. james tracy, teaches communications at florida atlantic university. on his blog. he says the school massacre at sandy hook last month did not happen the way law enforcement said it did or may not have happened at all. >> well, i think that we need to, as a society, look at things more carefully. perhaps, we, as a society, have been conditioned to be duped. >> tracy even suggested that actors were used to shape the debate about gun control.

the president of the university says she's upset the comments caused more pain in newtown and that the professor was talking as a private citizen, not as a representative of the school. >> we do have new information now on last week's school shooting near bakersfield. prosecutors in kern county say they will try the 16-year-old suspect as an adult. witnesses say the tiger walked into a science classroom at taft high school and shot another 16-year-old student in the chest. the student is right now in a medically-induced coma. doctors expect him to fully recover after much surgery. 20 minutes before 9:00. developing news from the south bay. more on that fatal accident in cupertino. the new evidence that tens of thousands of people in san francisco are living on shaky grounds. and arson investigators beginning to piece together a suspicious fire in crockett as a large peer goes up in flames.

you. president obama is reviewing recommendations from vice president joe biden about new gun policy legislation. reportedly, the president is considering 19 steps that could be taken through executive action without having to go through congress. we're gonna find up what facebook's big secret is. the menlo park-based social network is making an announcement at 10:00 this morning. last week, facebook issues an invitation. it includes "come and see what we're building." and firefighters are putting out hot spots at an early-morning pier fire in crockett. investigators say it's suspicious. alex savidge was the first reporter there. he's back there. >> reporter: form, dave. arson investigators will be -- gear, dave. arson investigators will be -- good morning, dave.

arson investigators will be continuing to investigate. they have a witness say they saw a small warming fire. they believe it may have been used possibly by fishermen and it's possible that fire grew out of hand. you can see five hours after this fire started we're still seeing this pier smoldering and from time to time we're seeing crews spraying water under the fire. this fire first broke out around 3:00 near the intersection of lorneing and jackson in crockett. it was a challenge for firefighters from the get-go. the first crews out here sprayed water from the shoreline onto the unoccupied building that was burning. eventually a fire boat was called in to help and that boat sprayed water on the underside of the pier where some of those hard-to-reach hot spots were. this large fire posed a threat to the sugar facility nearby. >> we've had a couple of

burning pieces of material that we've gone able to see that have gotten well out into the streets. we notified them so they could put out a fire watch for any burning material that could go on their wooden dock on wooden piers. >> reporter: no reports of damage at the sugar factory. >> what raised red flags this morning for crews who arrived here. there was another fire, a similar fire at this same pier, just two years ago. part of the reason firefighter the believe this is suspicious -- firefighters believe this is suspicious. firefighters were running some of their hoses along the train tracks. the train tracks are back open. there could be residual delays on some of the lines. firefighters say they will likely have to remain out here keeping an eye on the hot spots, traying water on this smoldering pier for a good portion of the day. live this morning in crockett, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news.

will begin meeting with senators personally and he started yesterday with a long talk with chuck schumer, an influential democrat who said he's decided to support hagel. some republicans are opposed to hagel even though hagel is a republican. he's accused of being soft on iran, weak in his backing for israel and opposed to gay rights. his confirmation hearing will probably happen within weeks. a study found there are almost 3,000 potentially unsafe buildings in the city and 58,000 people living there. research says the buildings will probably fall down in a big quake. most of the buildings on the list have not been verified in person by building inspectors. well, it's not likely that

lawsuits in the san bruno explosion will actually go to trial. more than 320 people filed claims. about 120 have already agreed to settlement. lawyerses said in court that this -- lawyers said this could take about 90 i days settle the remaining claims. the man accused of killing five people at a san francisco home last month is due in court at 9:00 this morning. a preliminary hearing for luck is scheduled for today. he's charged with five counts of murder stemming from the killing of three women and two men on march 23rd in the ingleside district. he's entered a not guilty plea. happening now, a court hearing for lindsay lohan is underway in los angeles. the 26-year-old is charged with reckless driving and lying to police about a traffic accident last june. lohan told police she was not behind the wheel but police suspect she was the driver. at the time of the crash, lohan

cupertino. this accident happened just after 7:00 this morning. our newschopper is there near the corner of foothill and silver oak. this is the nearest big vote is foothill and stevens creek boulevard. it does look like some of the traffic is affected in both directions. one direction here is completely shut down as police do their investigation. the big rig at the bottom, hit and killed a -- what is reportedly an elderly woman trying to cross the street at that location. you see the yellow tarp there. police say they will be on the scene for a while investigating. it will be delayed in this area. there's no time of opening for when this will be cleared up. let's move along and take a look at the westbound bay bridge. this commute has really improved in the last few minutes. no major problems getting into san francisco. i want to move the maps over since we've already talked about cupertino. look at 880. it's a mess from hayward to
